The "super-midsize" Bombardier Challenger® 300 business jet was officially launched at the 1999 Paris Air Show, as the Bombardier Continental Business Jet. Rockwell Collins was responsible for all aspects of the aircraft's avionics program. Their advanced avionics system onboard the eight-passenger aircraft has received U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and Transport Canada certification.
Rockwell Collins is using LynxOS®-178 as the embedded real-time operating system (RTOS) in the Challenger 300's adaptive flight display systems.
LynxOS-178 provides brick-wall partitioning of memory, time and device resources coupled with POSIX® conformance, so that safety-critical applications can execute in a "Virtual Machine" environment, highly protected and completely isolated from other applications. LynxOS-178 is DO-178B certifiable.
