Accu-Sort's AccuVision® AV-6010 camera for scanning systems was designed for high image quality and the highest possible read rates on both good- and poor-quality barcodes. AV-6010 scanning systems are typically used in parcel, postal and warehouse sorting, retail distribution and OCR solutions. One cable connects all components through a dedicated network providing the tach, trigger and sync signals. Read results are passed through the network to the acting 'master' camera which handles communications to the host.

The AV-6010 camera achieves "never-fail reliability"—a MTBF (mean-time between failures) of greater than 75,000 hours—by deploying a combination of the LynxOS® real-time operating system (RTOS) and BlueCat embedded Linux®. "The design for the AV-6010 required both Linux and an RTOS component," said Bruce Love, Software Engineering Manager, Accu-Sort. "Only LynuxWorks offered both."
