The Xerox Document Centre system is a family of products designed to integrate the work of many traditionally separate office devices. These multitasking multifunction digital systems can copy, print, let users e-mail hard copy, fax via the Internet, or print over the Web.
Because the Document Centre manages multiple documents simultaneously through parallel job processing, hard real-time execution of data processing is required. The LynxOS RTOS was chosen for Document Centre programs so that all the hard real-time demands of the system could be met. LynxOS was also selected for its POSIX® compliance, its UNIX®-like development environment, and its ability to write applications into ROM, thereby eliminating the need for disk drives.
