CORBA is the Common Object Request Broker Architecture. CORBA is a vendor-independent specification for networked systems from Object Management Group (OMG). Most Object Request Brokers (ORBs) for LynuxWorks™ operating systems are compliant with the CORBA specification.
A Washington University paper, entitled "An Empirical Evaluation of OS Endsystem Support for Real-time CORBA Object Request Brokers," compares and evaluates the suitability of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and general-purpose operating systems with real-time scheduling classes, for real-time Object Request Broker (ORB) middleware.
