LynxSecure Named as a Finalist for EDN Software/Embedded Tools Award

The LynxSecure separation kernel and embedded hypervisor from LynuxWorks is again recognized for its unique feature set and security functionality

SAN JOSÉ, CA-April 23, 2010—LynuxWorks™, Inc., a world leader in the embedded software market, today announced that its LynxSecure separation kernel has been selected as a finalist in the Software/Embedded Tools category for the 20th Annual EDN Innovation Awards. The annual EDN Innovation Awards honor outstanding engineering professionals and products. Only products that were released between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2009, were eligible.

LynxSecure is the undisputed performance leader for secure embedded and desktop systems utilizing hardware-virtualization technology (VT) and supporting multiple cores. LynxSecure 3.0, released in 2009, provides full virtualization for guest operating systems, allowing an unmodified guest operating system to be hosted simultaneously on the same hardware as real-time and para-virtualized operating systems. This means that a "hard" real-time operating system can run concurrently with a fully virtualized Windows® or para-virtualized Linux® operating system. A mid-2009 upgrade to LynxSecure 3.0 extended support for the latest versions of Microsoft® Windows, including Windows 7 and Vista.

Instituted in 1990, the Innovation Awards honor the people, products, and technologies that have shaped the semiconductor industry over the past year. EDN editors selected the finalists, and readers were asked to cast their votes. Winners will be announced at a reception and awards ceremony on April 26, 2010, in San José, CA.
