LynuxWorks Appoints AP Embedded Solutions as its Distributor for France

SAN JOSÉ, Calif., 29 March 2005—LynuxWorks™ today announced the expansion of its distributor network with the addition of AP Embedded Solutions of Paris, France, who specialises in system software; marketing, integration and support for industries that employ complex software applications, especially those requiring certification such as aerospace, telecom, process control and automotive. AP Embedded Solutions (APES) will support LynuxWorks customers in France.

"Working with LynuxWorks means we are able to offer our clients a fully supported family of Linux® ABI (Application Binary Interface)-compatible embedded operating systems, from the royalty-free BlueCat® Linux, through to the LynxOS® real-time operating system (RTOS) and the certifiable RTOS LynxOS-178," said Bruno Privat, Sales Director of APES. He continued, "There is already a strong market here in France for LynxOS and the Linux ABI-compatibility between the LynuxWorks systems lets customers inexpensively develop with BlueCat Linux and migrate applications to the real-time system—with no costly or lengthy porting process."

APES is already supporting aerospace and defence, telecom, process control and automotive customers with operating systems from LynuxWorks and associated firmware, device drivers and board support packages.

"The team at AP Embedded Solutions have the local market experience and in-depth technical expertise to ensure that our customers in Europe get the best possible local support for their projects," said Hamid Mirab, Managing Director of LynuxWorks EMEA.

About AP Embedded Solutions

Established in October 2004 by a group of senior engineers with more than 30 years of expertise in embedded systems, APES offers products, professional services, support and training for real-time operating systems and embedded Linux. APES is focused on industries that employ complex software applications, including those with certification demands, such as automotive, aerospace, and telecommunications.

On the product side, APES distributes the full range of LynuxWorks products for both the RTOS and Embedded Linux markets.

All products are offered with corresponding services, such as the development of Board Support Packages (BSPs), firmware and device drivers for both COTS and proprietary hardware.

High-end customer support helps APES' customers to develop their software with LynuxWorks products as well as with custom solutions (proprietary and Open Source). APES' capabilities in the embedded field can also be used to assist customers in moving or porting their existing application from a custom embedded solution to a LynxOS- or embedded-Linux-based solution. Another important benefit is APES' high level of experience with the certification of system software, allowing them to offer development according to the relevant standards (i.e. DO-178B) and/or to guide customers through the software certification process.

AP Embedded Solutions will be exhibiting at RTS'2005 in Paris from April the 4th to the 7th.
