Vibren's Accelent DevkitIDP Reference Design now Supports BlueCat Embedded Linux Intel XScale PXA255 processor application support

BOXBOROUGH, Mass. and SAN JOSÉ, Calif.—December 20, 2004—Vibren Technologies, an industry leader in embedded systems engineering, today announced that its Accelent DevkitIDP™ for the Intel® PXA255 Applications Processor now provides support for the LynuxWorks™ BlueCat® Embedded Linux® operating system. Vibren's Accelent DevkitIDP lets embedded engineers create mobile and other devices based on Intel's PXA255 processor. BlueCat Embedded Linux from LynuxWorks is an implementation of the Linux model (based on the Linux 2.6 kernel) that has been optimized for embedded applications.

Because Vibren has added BlueCat Embedded Linux support to the Vibren Accelent DevkitIDP, engineers can now rapidly develop devices that run industry-standard Linux. With the addition of BlueCat Embedded Linux support, Vibren now provides a comprehensive developer's kits for embedded system design.

"By adding BlueCat Embedded Linux capabilities to Vibren's Accelent DevKitIDP, the company gives embedded engineers platform versatility that has not been available before," said Bob Morris, vice president, sales and marketing, LynuxWorks. "Now embedded Linux engineers can easily offer their customers the many advantages of an open operating system with consistently high standards for their embedded Linux code."

"Adding LynuxWorks' embedded Linux operating system is a critical step toward growing open source on embedded devices," said Tom DeSisto, vice president of business development, Vibren Technologies. "The open-source community is moving into embedded systems design with great success. LynuxWorks gives them the quality and stability to quickly get a product market-ready. Our goal is to help them get there faster with high-quality engineering."

Further information about Vibren's Accelent DevkitIDP and about Vibren's outsourced development solutions is available at www.vibren.com.
