McObject and LynuxWorks Alliance Delivers Real-time Data Management on LynxOS

McObject Precision Data Management

Issaquah, WA—July 20, 2003—McObject, an innovator in memory-based embedded data management, has forged an alliance with LynuxWorks™, bringing McObject's eXtremeDB in-memory database system to LynuxWorks' LynxOS® real-time operating system.

In eXtremeDB, developers using LynxOS gain a cost-effective, off-the-shelf solution to embedded systems' growing need to manage larger volumes of more complex data. By replacing "homegrown" data management code, McObject's database delivers higher system reliability while cutting QA cycles.

As an in-memory database, eXtremeDB eliminates disk I/O, caching and related overhead—delivering the kind of instant responsiveness demanded in key target markets such as network communications and industrial process control. And eXtremeDB's tiny memory and CPU footprint (the database requires approximately 100K RAM) is compelling to customers who must minimize hardware costs in OEM applications.

"To meet growing end-user demands, intelligent devices in fields as diverse as communications infrastructure and manufacturing automation increasingly rely on proven data management running on an open, rock-solid RTOS foundation," said Bob Morris, vice president of sales and marketing for LynuxWorks. "McObject's eXtremeDB complements LynxOS's performance and reliability, and offers LynuxWorks customers the marketplace advantages of shorter development time and lower bill-of-materials cost."
