GoAhead Launches Integration Alliance to Improve Service Availability Levels

Alliance to further 99.999% uptime for telecommunications and internet infrastructures

BELLEVUE, WA—October 9, 2000—GoAhead® Software, the leading provider of service availability software, today announced the formation of the GoAhead Integration Alliance (GIA) to further promote the development of reliability solutions for telecommunications and Internet infrastructure and reduce time-to-market for equipment manufacturers.

The GIA will tightly integrate GoAhead's service availability technology with a select group of computing platforms (e.g., CompactPCI® chassis), operating systems, boards and applications to achieve 99.999% ("five-nines") system uptime and preserve transaction integrity. Current GIA member companies include Consystant, Force Computers, Intel (NASDAQ: INLC), Interphase Corporation (NASDAQ: INPH), LynuxWorks, Inc., MontaVista Software, Inc., Motorola Computer Group (NYSE: MOT), Natural MicroSystems (NASDAQ: NMSS), QNX Software Systems Ltd., RadiSys Corporation (NASDAQ: RSYS), TimeSys Corporation, Trillium Digital Systems (an Intel company), Wind River Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: WIND) and Ziatech Corporation.

"In a Web-based world, applications simply must always be available," said Dan Kusnetzky, vice president of system software, IDC. "The GoAhead Intergration Alliance is a fine example of efforts underway to bring hardware and software companies together to offer organizations the high levels of availability they need."

The GoAhead SelfReliant product line takes high availability to the next level-service availability. SelfReliant 7000 is a comprehensive, off-the-shelf, cross-platform management software solution. It manages all system resources, hardware and software in real-time to enable manufacturers to provide highly reliable Internet infrastructure equipment. It is anticipated that GIA members will work towards system solutions that integrate SelfReliant with their technology and/or product lines. "Through the formation of the GIA we are creating a network of companies coming together to help reduce time-to-market for next generation infrastructure equipment," said Michael O'Brien, CEO, GoAhead. "The GIA is committed to delivering the on-demand, uninterrupted service today's customers are demanding."

With plans to continue expanding its GIA membership base, GoAhead hopes to leverage the knowledge and insight of the Alliance's member companies to further enhance future service availability products.
