LynuxWorks Announces Delivery of BlueCat Linux for Hitachi SuperH Processors

SAN JOSÉ, Calif., August 21, 2000—LynuxWorks, a leader in real-time operating systems and embedded Linux, today announced that the new release of BlueCat™ Linux 3.0 supports the Hitachi SuperH® RISC processors. Following its successful production release of BlueCat Linux 2.0 last quarter, this new release of BlueCat Linux 3.0 adds additional processor support and new features and functionality.

With the continual expansion of supported processors, LynuxWorks is working to ensure that any systems manufacturer using Hitachi or other processors can now take advantage of the open source, open platform BlueCat Linux.

"The BlueCat Linux support of Hitachi is yet another demonstration of LynuxWorks' ability to support top-tier embedded processor suppliers and their customers," commented Inder Singh, CEO and Chairman of LynuxWorks. "Hitachi processors are widely used in a variety of embedded systems such as multimedia and consumer products—including hand held personal digital assistants, digital still cameras, and game machines. Coupling the performance and low power of Hitachi's processors with the features and support of BlueCat Linux should help embedded customers to quickly bring exciting new products to market."
