SAN JOSÉ, Calif., May 23, 2000—LynuxWorks, Inc., formerly Lynx Real-Time Systems, today announced that it has joined the Intel® Applied Computing Platform Provider (ACPP) program and will work with program members to integrate the LynuxWorks product family into the Intel applied computing platform. The product family includes the open-source BlueCat Linux operating system, the proprietary LynxOS® real-time operating system and development tools.
"We are pleased that LynuxWorks has joined the Intel® Applied Computing Platform Provider program," said Joe Jensen, General Manager, Embedded Intel Architecture Division, Intel Corporation. "We look forward to the contributions of LynuxWorks as a member of this Intel initiative."
The ACPP program consists of third-party vendors who meet Intel's strict criteria for quality assurance, manufacturing capacity, design capability, tools and support. ACPP members provide a reliable source for Intel® Architecture-based platforms, from board-level products to complete systems. Developers working with these providers move innovative applied computing products through the hardware and software design process quickly. Members deliver appropriate software, drivers and connectivity support, tools and technical support. Intel selects members who have demonstrated a consistent track record in the areas of business operations, human resources management, materials handling and delivery, employee safety and worldwide customer support.
"Inclusion in this program moves LynuxWorks closer to the board developers, tearing down the wall between hardware and software development," said Inder Singh, chairman and CEO for LynuxWorks. "By qualifying for the ACPP program, LynuxWorks has demonstrated the significance of its presence in applied computing market segments, including retail and financial transaction terminal products, industrial PCs and communications systems."
