Embedded software leader extends influence in PCI industry
SAN JOSÉ, Calif.—September 27, 1999—Lynx Real-Time Systems, Inc. today became the first real-time operating systems (RTOS) provider to deliver Hewlett-Packard's (HP) ChaiVM on the LynxOS® RTOS. Lynx customers can now field real-time Java applications in a wide range of products using the HP Java-compliant embedded virtual machine.
HP's independently developed ChaiVM fully complies with the Java Virtual Machine Specification and the Java Language Specification and is optimized for use in embedded systems. Designed for environments with resource constraints, ChaiVM gives developers the flexibility to create a system with just the functionality needed for their product.
"We are excited that Lynx, one of the fastest growing embedded software companies, is now delivering a fully integrated Java solution based on ChaiVM," said Jim Bell, general manager, HP's Embedded Software Organization. "HP looks forward to a long and growing partnership with Lynx, working together to help make Lynx customers successful."
In 1998, joined by other key embedded and real-time software and hardware vendors, including Intel, Lynx endorsed HP's Chai Appliance Platform suite of embedded software products with its small footprint, real-time features and customizable configuration capabilities.
