The PrPMC800, based upon Motorola's MPC7410 microprocessor with AltiVec™ technology, is a high-performing, flexible mezzanine card designed to be the heart of low-end digital signal processing (DSP) applications in the medical equipment, semiconductor production and test equipment, and telecommunications markets. With Ethernet capabilities and maximum heat dissipation, the PrPMC800 provides OEMs with the flexibility and increased performance needed to help them get their high-end products to market quickly and cost-effectively.
Including a complete CPU and memory subsystem, the PrPMC800, combined with Motorola's PowerPlus 3 architecture, addresses the demanding needs of today's complex applications. For example, semiconductor equipment manufacturers are under constant pressure to help their IC manufacturer customers increase yields and lower total cost of ownership. By providing enhanced productivity and performance, the PrPMC800 can help semiconductor equipment companies meet these demands. Its small footprint also helps save costly fab space.
This PMC module includes a full-length heatsink, creating a CPU package capable of handling the thermal requirements of complex tasks. Processor PMC (PrPMC) modules also provide a complete host CPU and memory subsystem to a base board full of PCI-based I/O controllers in a compact, rugged, industry-standard form factor. The PrPMC isolates the complexities of a high-speed CPU, cache and memory signals from application-specific hardware, enabling OEMs to focus on their market requirements while simplifying their product release. These modules also simplify CPU and memory upgrades in performance-driven embedded and telecom applications.
