Kontron's VMPC6a single-board computers (SBCs) incorporate the performance and low power consumption of IBM PC750 processors with ruggedized designs intended for harsh environments in industrial, military, and aerospace applications. VMPC6a is available in single and dual processor configurations (BSPs may differ).

With more than 21 SPECint95 and more than 13 SPECfp95 per processor, the VMPCa and VMPC6a-Dual are extremely high performance engines in a single VME slot.

To further boost performance, each processor has a dedicated 1MB of backside L2 cache, allowing both PowerPC® 750 processors to run in parallel while using only about five watts of power. The use of a separate L2 cache bus enables processing up to three times faster than earlier cache designs.

  • Option of 64, 128, 256, 512MB on-board memory
  • Includes 2MB cache memory per processor, with high performance transfers due to dedicated L2 bus running at high speed (clock ratio 1:2)
  • Includes 512KB + 1MB system flash memory and up to 32MB user flash memory
  • Avignon host bridge incorporates double-bank SDRAM memory with ECC, supports dual processor with 100 and 133MHz PowerPC bus, and manages two PCI busses
  • COBRA dedicated control of interrupts and real-time functions eases the development of real-time applications and the control of complex I/Os
  • Available in four levels of ruggedization—standard, extended, air convection cooled, and conduction cooled for environments up to 85°C
  • Includes Ethernet interface, SCSI interface, and two available RS-232 serial ports up to 115.2Kb/s
