Kontron VCE405 Connectivity EngineVery low power consumption, rugged I/O-oriented single-board computer
The VCE405 Connectivity Engine provides a flexible off-the-shelf method for quickly developing and deploying cost-conscious high-performance custom systems. The low power consumption of the powerful, 375+ MIPS, IBM® PowerPC® 405GP and the ALMA2e PCI/VME bridge make the VCE405 well-suited to critical environments such as medical or aerospace applications.
Because of the board's low power consumption, it does not require massive heat sinks.
This makes the VCE405 ideal for applications such as flight-control systems on helicopters, where there
is a weight restriction for rugged electronic components. Combine the board's high-performance electronics
with its low power consumption and rugged design and you've got what it takes to perform sensor and data computations in harsh environments encountered in military and aerospace applications.
