The VG5 from GE Fanuc (formerly from SBS Technologies) is an ultra-compact
6U VMEbus PowerPC® board—an all-in-one design in a single slot with flexible DDR SDRAM (ECC)
and flash configurations, and an array of on-board peripherals.
VG5 is available as a single or dual CPU board and includes up to two Gigabit and two
10/100 Mbit Ethernet ports, up to four high-speed multi-protocol serial controllers (HDLC, Bisync), one
serial ATA port, two PMC extension slots, UARTS, timer/counter and general-purpose I/Os. Each processor
node on the board has its own DDR-SDRAM bank and its own chipset with peripherals (asymetric multi-processing).
The VG5 is also available in a conduction-cooled version. The VG5 contains a FPGA with a user-reserved
area, which allows programming of application-specific I/O functions. AltiVec™ is supported.
- MPC7455/57 PowerPC processors with AltiVec™ technology and 2MB L3 cache, up to 1.3GHz
- Asymmetric Multiprocessing Architecture (ASMP)
- Integrated Gigabit Ethernet and fast Ethernet ports
- Two PMC slots
- Commercial and conduction-cooled versions
