GE Fanuc's PPC7A offers a powerful combination of the very latest technology and features and full compatibility with the PowerXtreme™ feature set, first defined in 1995. Advanced design and assembly techniques have been utilized to pack more features on this board than ever before, without compromising the fully rugged PowerXtreme pedigree.
PPC7A offers a choice of the very latest PowerPC® processors, enabling the user to optimize the match between CPU performance and application requirement. The processor is fully supported by an integrated system controller providing high data-bandwidth from both volatile and non-volatile memory and a bridge to a 64-bit 66 MHz PCI bus. Two PMC sites on this bus provide access to further incremental system expansion if required.
The use of integrated devices such as the system controller and an integrated southbridge, have freed up extensive board area, allowing additional features to be added to the already comprehensive PowerXtreme feature set. In addition to the established SCSI, parallel, keyboard and mouse interfaces, the number of serial ports has been expanded to six and the number of Ethernet ports to two. Totally new features include an SVGA interface, two USB ports, 16 bit digital I/O and a reserved board area which can accommodate custom design features for large volume production programs.
PPC7A not only offers unprecedented performance for new applications, but also protects the user's investment in application software by offering seamless upgrade opportunities in existing applications.
