Freescale MPMC860MPC860 communications controller board

Freescale MPMC860
Boards for LynxOS embedded RTOS v. 4.0, 3.10a
Architecture: PowerPC / Power Architecture
Processor group: Freescale MPC860 PowerQUICC
Markets: networks, wireless, telecommunications
Please consult the board-support guide or contact us for specific platform features supported.

The MPMC860 series of communication adapters are based on the PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) format. These powerful new building blocks offer high-performance T1/E1 connectivity to telecom OEMs and communications systems integrators.

Powered by the MPC860 PowerQUICC™ integrated Power Architecture® PowerPC® microprocessor, the MPMC860 is designed for use in high-bandwidth voice and data switching systems. An optional SCbus™ controller allows connection to an SCbus switching fabric to provide a high-bandwidth TDM telephony bus. An MPMC860 PMC board has two T1 or E1 interfaces connected via RJ45 connectors on the front panel or via a rear transition module. A CompactPCI® or VME carrier board with two MPMC860 adapters can provide up to four E1/T1 interfaces in a single CompactPCI or VME slot.

Integrated on to CompactPCI or VMEbus-based processor boards, this new series of adapters make ideal communications platforms for use in applications such as wireless infrastructure, unified messaging servers, enterprise computer telephony, intelligent peripherals and the advanced intelligent network. The PMC/carrier board combination allows the system integrator the widest possible choice of system configurations including carrier boards with PowerPC or Pentium® processor technology.
