The VP 110/01x is a PC-compatible, high-performance, high-functionality VME processor board supporting either the 933MHz or 800MHz low-voltage Intel Pentium® III processor 512K. This single-slot board features two PMC sites, up to 1 Gbyte of synchronous DRAM and a variety of interfaces, including an option for an on-board hard disk drive, CompactFlash™ or IBM®/Hitachi MicroDrive™. The VP 110/01x is suitable for a range of demanding applications within the industrial control, telecom, telemetry, scientific and aerospace markets.

Central processor

  • low-power Pentium III Processor operating at 933MHz or 800MHz
    • using a flip-chip CPU
    • 32 Kbytes internal (Level 1) on-die cache
    • 512 Kbytes of secondary (Level 2) on-die cache
    • supports 133MHz bus frequency
    • no CPU fan; low-power processor
  • utilizes 64-bit ServerWorks' ServerSet™ III LE chipset
  • Pentium III (ITP) debug port

DRAM

  • supporting up to 1 Gbyte of 133MHz ECC SDRAM
    • 256 Mbytes or 512 Mbytes soldered on the board
    • up to 512 Mbytes provided via a SODIMM socket
    • single bit error correction; double-bit error detection
  • accessible from Pentium III processor or VME bus

EIDE hard disk interfaces

  • accessed via P2 connector
  • supports up to Ultra-DMA 100 for high performance drives
  • two channels (primary and secondary)
  • primary channel is accessible via P2 connector (see Note)
    • connects to an optional hard/floppy/flash/CD-ROM drive board (DS MSS/00x)
  • secondary channel can be used for on-board disk drive (AD CP1/DR1) or CompactFlash module or IBM® Microdrive™ Type II drive carrier (AD 200/001)

Ethernet interface

  • two channels supporting 10Base-T and 100Base-Tx for UTP CAT-5
  • implemented by two 82559ER LAN controllers
  • accessed via two RJ45 front panel connectors
  • programmable station ID

PMC (PCI mezzanine card) interface

  • 2 x PMC sites and for both sites
    • I/O via front panel, also via P2 for site 1 and optionally via P0 for site 2
    • 32/64-bit, 33/66MHz PCI operation
    • 3.3V or 5V signaling levels
  • expansion connector to an optional PMC carrier board (AD CR2/PMC) for two additional PMC sites

Serial interface

  • 1 x RS232 serial channel
  • 16550 compatible UARTs
  • accessed via an RJ45 connector on the front panel

Battery-backed SRAM

  • 512 Kbytes of battery-backed low power SRAM

Flash EPROM

  • 64 Mbytes Application Flash EPROM
  • 512 Kbytes of BIOS Flash EPROM

Firmware support

  • PhoenixPICO™ BIOS
  • comprehensive Power-On Self-Test (POST)
